| San Benito School is tops in Vote For Your School! Campaign |
San Benito Elementary School is the big winner in Atascadero Main Street’s first ever
Vote For Your School! Campaign. More than 20 downtown businesses participated in
the promotion all during the month of April. Local elementary school students were
invited into shops to sign petitions supporting their schools. Nearly 500 signatures were
collected.
“We wanted to tie in with local schools to help their libraries, and to building recognition
and foot traffic for our downtown stores,” said Atascadero Main Street Executive Director
Steve Martin. “All of our Promotion Committee members are happy with the results of
this first-time campaign and we plan to repeat it each April in the future,” said Martin.
San Gabriel Elementary School was the second place winner. Santa Rosa Elementary
School took third place. Prize money will be given to the schools’ libraries. The first
place prize is $500. Second place is $300. Third place is $200. Other schools will
receive Main Street bookmarks in recognition of their participation.
Prize money was donated by Atascadero Main Street , Rabobank, Atascadero News,
Esteem, Central Coast Seafood, Gillis Appraisals and Quilters’ Cupboard. 5/09/2008
